We returned to a home in Southington, CT, where the client was seeing mists and the dog was acting strange. This is Part 2 of the story of what happened during our visit, based on our readings, observations and experiences. Read Part 1 first for best results.
With the client deciding to have Charles vacate the premises, we had to decide on a strategy that would work to get him to leave. He had told us that he missed Cindy, and we promised him that we would help reunite the two of them, so we decided to focus on his seeing Cindy in the light.
Crystal located the light in the downstairs bedroom. We led Charles into this room and asked him if he could see Cindy.
Instead he went back to staring at Darlene.
We tried for a while to get him to pass through, but it was proving to be a fruitless effort. No matter how hard we tried, we couldn’t get him to focus on the light. He was simply too distracted and uninterested in leaving. Apparently his interest in Cindy wasn’t that strong – his wandering eye didn’t wander away from him when he passed, and now he was making passes at Darlene.
We had to think of a new tactic.
We took a break and retreated to the kitchen. Charles came with us. Of course, he had other things on his mind as we sat around talking. An idea came to me that I hadn’t thought was even possible a few weeks ago – why not give him what he wanted? Obviously he could not have Darlene – as we sat around the kitchen table, I asked him to try and reach out to her, knowing he would not be able to. Standing there looking at him as straight in the eye as I possibly could, I told him this – there are women on the other side that he could actually touch and interact with.
Needless to say, this was hard for Charles to resist. But would it work?
Crystal, myself, and our guest photographer moved into the room with the light. We left Darlene behind in the kitchen so he wouldn’t be distracted by her presence. Approaching the wall, Crystal was able to see into the light through Charles’ eyes.
Belly dancers. Four of them. All scantily clad.
He was gone before we knew it.
This was another tool added now in our collection. Little did we know how soon we would need to use it again.
We walked back into the living room. It felt much lighter, but there was still something in the rocking chair.
It was never Charles. It was Al.
Al was a friend of Crystal’s that had recently passed.

Vic, Darlene, Crystal, myself and our photographer went upstairs to address the issue of Maggie. As mentioned earlier, we knew Maggie from a previous visit. She was originally in the attic, and on that visit Crystal was told that her mother was in the kitchen, whom we believed was Samantha. But was it really? We still had questions, and we started an EVP session.
What is your name? Maggie.
Why are you here? With my mommy.
Are you waiting for something or someone? Mommy’s cooking dinner.
Did you live here? Yep.
Are there any other spirits here? Spirits? Me, mommy. Yep.
Do you want to leave or stay here? Stay with mommy.
Are you angry or happy? Happy.
Are you sad or lonely? Nope.
Do you know what year it is? Hmmm…mommy said, I forgot.
Do you know where you are? Home.
What year were you born? in 1932.
What was your favorite toy? Dollie.
As we finished up the session, I started talking to Maggie but didn’t get very far. I was so focused on what to say, that I missed something.
She left the room.
Crystal and our guest photographer informed me that they could no longer hear or feel her presence. She had gone back downstairs to the kitchen to be with her mommy.
Something strange happened when we went into the kitchen – Crystal and our guest photographer did not detect the presence of a woman cooking. Crystal did however sense the presence of an older child, approximately 12 years old. The same height of the spirit I felt when I first went upstairs that evening.
Samantha was not Maggie’s mother.
For some time, it appeared that Samantha had tricked Maggie into thinking that her mother was there, at the very least helping to create this illusion. Samantha was also intent on causing mischief – and did not want us to take away any of her friends. Crystal said that Samantha admitted to bringing Charles into the house, and that she liked to toy with the dog. This was enough to convince us that she was a problem that would need to be resolved. And we were not going to wait to do it.
On our first attempt to get Maggie to pass through the light, we were unsuccessful. We attempted to play a game with her – where her mother could move from the kitchen to the light without Maggie knowing it – but she retreated to the kitchen after a few moments. Samantha had Maggie so convinced that her mother was in the kitchen cooking that it confused and scared her. We believe she felt it was safer to go back and stay with the illusion than to enter the light.
Second try.
We tried to play hide and seek. I counted to 10 and went back into the bedroom. Samantha and Maggie found me. Crystal, Darlene and our guest photographer came into the room, and we then tried to tell Samantha and Maggie that it was time to go through the light. It still didn’t work. Seeing as Maggie kept running back to the kitchen, all of us were determined to not let either her or Samantha out of the room. Crystal closed the door to the bedroom and blocked the doorway.
Would they escape the room?

Instead of going through the light or staying in the room, Samantha passed right through Crystal. Feeling like all of her energy was drained out of her, Crystal lied down on the floor, feeling exhausted and sick to her stomach. It was several days before Crystal felt better again.
This was getting to be too much. We went back into the kitchen and had yet another discussion with Samantha. Getting serious with her, we informed her that we would keep coming back until she was gone. We also told her that she would be by herself – we would promptly remove any spirits she attracted – and there would be no point in her staying. Crystal, describing Samantha as a stubborn brat, said this made her irate and she did not believe us.
At this point we had to make a decision whether to let Maggie know that it was not her mother in the kitchen. We knew that this would hurt Maggie, but felt as if we had no other choice. We also believed that the only way to get Maggie to pass through was for her to go without Samantha. So as gently as possible, I told Maggie that it was not her mother that was in the kitchen cooking – it was only her imagination. Crystal could see Maggie crying and getting upset. As Maggie was crying, Crystal noticed the image of Maggie’s mother at the stove beginning to fade. As her image faded into nothing, we brought Maggie into the bedroom. Approaching the light, Crystal could see the image of Maggie’s mother on the other side. Maggie was still crying as she slowly moved into the light. Her mother took her hand and after a few moments she was gone.
This did not please Samantha at all.
But it was time to finish the job.
We went back to find Samantha. Crystal, myself and our guest photographer went back upstairs to see if Samantha had retreated to the computer room where she had been previously. As I was halfway up the stairs, I could tell that Samantha was somewhere else. I was being pointed downstairs. As I headed back towards the kitchen, I was drawn to a closet under the stairs, across the hall from the bedroom with the light. I signaled to both Crystal and our guest photographer that she was in this closet. As I opened the door, Crystal could see the image of Samantha cowering in the back. Samantha was angry – we had taken away two of her friends and now she was left by herself. Crystal could hear her talking like a petulant child who couldn’t get her way. I was also running out of patience. I closed the closet door and blocked her inside. Crystal could see her trying to get out, but she was unable to find a way through me. After a minute or two she found a way – she crawled between the edge of the door and my right leg.
Back to the kitchen. Again.
I told Samantha that we helped Maggie leave, we helped Charles leave, and we would do the same thing with any other spirits she invited in. I reminded her that she had just seen us do it, and we were prepared to do it again, as many times as necessary. We gave her a choice – she could leave, or she could stay with no one to play with or taunt. Our biggest concern was the dog and I still wasn’t sure how we would be able to get Samantha to leave, but I was just as stubborn – I refused to give up. We managed to get her back into the bedroom, but we were still getting nowhere. It was getting frustrating and I wasn’t sure what to do next.
Enter Darlene.
Darlene told Samantha that there were other children on the other side of the light, and she could tease and taunt them as much as she wanted. With Charles having seen four belly dancers earlier, I had a newfound confidence that Samantha would see something she wanted. Sure enough, Crystal told us that Samantha could see many children laughing and playing inside the light. Appealing to her mischievous nature, Samantha couldn’t resist what she was seeing. Crystal could see her on her hands and knees starting to crawl into the light, attempting to sneak up on these unsuspecting children.
She slowly crept, inch by inch, towards the images of children as if they were prey. Quietly giggling, she passed all the way through the light.
Gone.
