A DATE WITH DEATH? Summary from Terryville, CT, Part 1

The group visited a home in Terryville, CT, where the homeowner had been feeling the presence of multiple spirits, among other experiences. This is the story of what occurred during our visit, based on our readings, observations and experiences. The mediums had no prior knowledge of any of the spirits in the home.

On a sunny but chilly Saturday afternoon, Darlene, Crystal, guest researcher Jennifer and myself arrived at a private residence in Terryville, CT, where the homeowner had reported feeling the presence of multiple spirits. She had also taken some very strange photographs. She was looking for confirmation of what she was feeling, and asked us if we could check for her. As the team walked into the home, I was drawn to one end of the living room. I noticed the first spirit – it seemed like they were sitting in a chair on the left. I looked to the right corner, and could sense a second spirit. I asked Crystal to listen.

“Who is here,” I asked.

No answer.

I asked again, “Who is here?” Still no reply. I then told them that we could hear them and knew where they were.

Crystal then heard “Don’t say anything.”

Busted.

Crystal told us that apparently the spirit on the left was trying to tell the one on the right to be quiet, or else we might try and get them to do something – like make them leave.

They didn’t have to worry.

Our plan was to scan the entire home, and we left the living room. Our first stop was the client’s bedroom in the back of the house, where she had reported feeling the presence of a little girl. Looking to the left of the bed, I was pointed toward a spirit – the height appeared to be about 3 to 4 feet – and turned out to be a young girl. Crystal heard the name Andrea. We briefly talked with her, and moved onto the next room.

On the way, we walked through the kitchen – and detected a spirit standing in front of the refrigerator. We made a note of it, and headed into another bedroom. Looking around, neither Crystal nor I could sense the presence of any spirit – the room felt pretty light and comfortable. Crystal asked me to talk, so I asked if there was anybody here. There was no response after two attempts, but I continued to look – and Crystal heard someone say, “He’s so stupid.”

It was the spirit in front of the refrigerator. I asked why they thought I was so stupid, and Crystal told me it was because I was still looking around for a spirit when the room was empty.

We went into the basement, and felt I the heaviness. All Crystal could hear was screaming – a woman screaming “No, no,” over and over again. As Darlene tried to ask her questions, she would only scream “go away” and “get out.” We managed to get her name – Nancy – and she continued to tell us to leave. Darlene asked why she was here, and she told Crystal it was “none of her business.” She kept moving around, and Crystal could detect her kicking the wall. Respecting her wishes for the moment, we left the basement.

We had one last place to check – the stairwell leading to the upstairs apartment. Upon reaching the top of the stairway, Crystal heard ‘I’m Molly.” Molly continued speaking to Crystal and said, “She’s lying to you.”

I asked her who was lying to us.

“That girl in the basement. She’s a liar. She lied to me. She’s really mean and she lies.”

Molly also told Crystal that Nancy had stolen her boyfriend.

Boyfriend?

We left the stairwell and started walking through the house, only to be interrupted when Crystal heard it again:

You’re so stupid.

It was the man in the kitchen. This time, I said thank you.

We had finished our scan, and regrouped in the living room. Sitting down with the client, we shared what we had found in her home so far. We had identified two spirits in the living room, Andrea in the client’s bedroom, a man in the kitchen, Nancy in the basement and Molly upstairs. She requested that we do what we could to pass each of them through the light, as she was planning on moving and wanted to make sure they would be okay.

As Andrea was a child, the team agreed that it was best to help her first. We entered the master bedroom and Crystal, Darlene and I sat down on the bed. The client crouched on the floor to the left of the bed, and Jennifer stood at the foot. After introducing ourselves to Andrea, we asked her if it would be okay to ask her a few questions. She told Crystal it was okay, so we started the EVP session (with the client also asking questions).

What is your name? Andrea
Why are you here? Waiting for my mother. She went shopping.
How old are you? 8
Do you like to play with the grey kitten? Yes.
Do you like to scare the grey kitten? No
Do you like it when my granddaughter visits? We play together.

Would you like us to help you get back to your mother? Yes.

Do you have any brothers and sisters? Brother Marcus.
Do you know the names of your grandparents? Lily.
Do you miss her? Yes, love her. Miss her.

I then felt myself being drawn to the door behind me, which led back to the kitchen. Turning around, I noticed the cat sitting on top of one of the bedposts, staring at the partially open door. The spirit in the kitchen had apparently decided to see what was going on. We asked Andrea about it.

Is there anyone outside this door? Yes.
Who is it? Max
Do you like Max? No. He calls me stupid.
Do you leave this room? No – scared of Max.

Darlene then asked her if she wanted to go into the light and see her mother. I could feel that she had no idea what Darlene was talking about – Andrea did not know she had passed. I decided to tell her, thinking this would help her leave the room and look for her mother in the light. I was wrong.

She threw me out.

Andrea refused to answer any more questions, and wanted me out of the room before she would even consider talking to the rest of the team. So I left the bedroom, went outside the house, and let everyone else continue with Andrea. This was the first time I had ever been thrown out of a room. It probably won’t be the last.

Walking back into the house, I found myself facing Crystal, Darlene, Jennifer and the client – they had left the bedroom, and were in the living room attempting to find the light. Andrea told Crystal that there was a light in the bathroom, over the bathtub. I followed everyone into the bathroom, and the client asked Andrea if it was okay for me to be there. I promised to be quiet, and Andrea agreed it was fine.

Crystal was able to identify the light, but there was one problem – it was tiny.

This light was so weak and small, Andrea wouldn’t be able to pass through it, much less see her mother or anyone else. After a minute of having Andrea call for her mother, Darlene asked her to kneel down and try and look into the light for her. But it was too late – Andrea gave up and left the bathroom. And so did we.

There had to be another light, somewhere in the house. Crystal was told there was another one – in the basement. But we would have to get by screaming Nancy. It looked like we would have to try and pass Nancy first before we could help Andrea any further.

But would we be able to?

Standing in the kitchen before going into the basement, I looked for Max, to ask about Nancy and the light in the basement.

Crystal said, “The dude is calling you stupid.”

Having heard this numerous times already, I said, “He calls everyone stupid.”

She’s a psycho.

I then asked, “Did you guys date?”

Yes. She’s nuts.

“Did she scream at you a lot?”

He told Crystal yes, and that she would scream at him even when he didn’t do anything wrong.

Apparently, relationships in the ghost world aren’t all that different than in our world.

Max did verify that there was a light in the basement. We told him we’d be back to talk with him further, and then prepared to go downstairs to have a talk with Nancy. With any luck, she would stop screaming for a few minutes, so we could figure out why she was there and why she was upset.

Crystal went to get her coat before going back into the basement. While I waited in the kitchen, I was pointed toward the back door, leading out to the porch. The client suggested I ask Max. I asked him, and heard “go outside and see for yourself.”

I was positive that something was on the porch. It seemed to be crouching under the stairs.

Crystal then came outside, and we tried to get this spirit to talk to us – after repeated requests for it to say something, Crystal heard nothing. As we still had so much to do, we went back into the house and headed toward the basement to deal with Nancy.

Crystal started hearing, “I won’t let you do this.”
