MURDER & MANIPULATION? Summary from Baltimore MD, Part 1

The group went to a home in Baltimore, Maryland, where the entire family had been experiencing phenomena for some time. This is the story of what occurred during our visit, based on our readings, observations and experiences.

A very desperate family with a 3-year old child. A frantic mother, a father who kept being touched, books flying across rooms, and a child whose demeanor had inexplicably changed.

After a long drive through five states, we arrived at the home of the family. Darlene entered the home to complete the necessary paperwork, and the rest of the team followed shortly thereafter.

Get out.

Crystal could hear it even before we walked through the door. Julie and I felt a heaviness to the air as soon as we stepped into the house.

What was here?

After setting up our equipment and explaining to the client what we were about to do, the group decided to check out the basement first.

Upon entering the client’s finished basement, I identified a spirit near a bed. I asked who was here, and Crystal did not hear a reply – all she could see was a man crying. As we weren’t getting much cooperation, we told this spirit we would be back.

And then Crystal heard “Don’t go.”

We asked this spirit why he was there, and Crystal started seeing images of a man being beat with a baseball bat. Two men, who Crystal described as looking like gang members, were hitting this man with the bat until he died. This spirit appeared to be in constant fear that the men who attacked and killed him were going to return. No matter how we tried to convince him otherwise, he refused to believe it. He felt that his purpose was to protect the family and felt that he couldn’t leave.

Crystal told us his name was Matthew.

I asked where he was from and what year it was – he was able to tell Crystal it was 1971 and he was from both Rockville and Baltimore, MD. Crystal noticed that he seemed to be very depressed, and she was starting to feel that way herself.

Needing to continue with the rest of the house, we told Matthew we would be back. But once again, he told Crystal that he didn’t want us to leave. Even telling him he could come upstairs with us didn’t work – he told Crystal he couldn’t – as he was too scared to leave the basement. He also said we would be in danger if we went upstairs, and he was concerned for our safety. With the help of Darlene and Julie, we told him once again that we would be back and he would be safe until we returned. But he continued to be afraid of the two men that killed him. We told him that we would do our best to make sure they would be gone. We left the basement anyway, as we still had the rest of the house to check.

Meanwhile, Crystal was feeling progressively worse. The depression she felt from Matthew was increasing, and her facial expressions started to change.

I decided to lead Crystal away from the house for a few minutes, We took a walk down the alley that ran behind a set of row houses. Trying to help her clear her head and stomach, we walked several houses away from the client’s home. She started feeling better as the influence of Matthew started to subside.

We headed upstairs to the client’s daughter’s room, and Crystal and I sat down on the daughter’s bed. I made a mental note of a bible sitting on a small chest, where she kept her dolls. I could sense a male figure in the room, and asked for this spirit’s name.

No reply.

Crystal then started singing a nursery rhyme. It was all she could hear, sung in a little girl’s voice. I asked for this spirit’s name again.

Remove the bibles first.

Most of us could feel he was angry. And his anger was making the air feel heavier. Crystal told us he wouldn’t talk until the bibles were gone. I handed the bible sitting on the chest to the homeowner.

There’s one more.

I hadn’t seen a second bible anywhere, and neither had anyone else in the group. Frantically, we looked everywhere in the room – inside the doll chest, the closet, under her pillows – but couldn’t locate it. After about five minutes of the group looking for this second bible, we found it under the bed. We then handed it to the client, and this spirit finally agreed to talk to us.

Crystal said his name was Jackie.

I asked why he was in the child’s room, and he told Crystal that children are very susceptible to manipulation. We asked him why he was trying to do this to the girl – and he refused to say why. I then tried to find out his real name, and said to him that I didn’t think he was really someone named Jackie – he replied to Crystal that I was correct – but he still wouldn’t tell us his real name. He did tell us that he chose the name Jackie to deceive the little girl that lived in the room – to further his manipulation.

Then he left the room.

We decided not to pursue this masquerading man any further for the time being. I wasn’t sure if I was angry with him – I knew I was frustrated with his evasiveness, and was deeply concerned about what he was doing to this child – but we just didn’t know why. What had happened to him?

Nevertheless, we came to the conclusion that as long as the client agreed, this spirit absolutely had to go. We weren’t sure if he was the sole source of the negative energy that the client had been feeling since moving into the house, but we were determined to try and fix this – for the sake of the family, the spirits involved, and most importantly, the client’s daughter.

After a short discussion amongst ourselves about what we found in the girl’s bedroom, we proceeded to finish scanning the home. As the group and the client entered the master bedroom, I noticed a spirit sitting on a small couch to the left of the bed. I stared at the space on the couch where I detected the spirit, and asked aloud who it was.

His first words to Crystal were “I’m Alfred, and I find you amusing.”

Alfred was a teacher who liked to read. A lot. As we started talking to Alfred, he told Crystal we were disturbing him. Darlene asked him questions about his reading, and Crystal said that he gets mad when there is too much talking, and sometimes throws things to get it to stop.

Not good.

However, after our encounter with Jackie in the daughter’s bedroom, I felt that we could use all the help we could get. I asked Alfred if he knew about Jackie. He told Crystal that his real name was Jacob and that he found him annoying. He also told Crystal that he noticed Jacob whispering and singing to the client’s daughter every night. I explained to Alfred that we wanted to help her and I asked for his help. Naturally, he told Crystal it would interrupt his reading. I told him what effect Jacob was having on this young child and how much harm he was inflicting on her.

He finally put his book down to listen.

Now with Alfred’s full attention, he told us that there were people on the outside with whom Jacob was trying to get even. Unfortunately, Jacob then entered the room before we could ask any more questions. It didn’t matter though – we had heard enough.

It was time to get to work.
