This house had several spirits that were kept there against their will. This is the story on how we released them from their private prisons and returned them to their families.

Reported Occurrences
We visited a home in Vernon, CT that had reported a number of strange anomalies. One of the residents kept feeling someone touching her shoulder in the basement, and the sheets were pulled down on the bed in the master bedroom. Also reported was a photo that had fallen off the wall in the living room, that inexplicably had been placed on the coffee table.
The Basement
Crystal and I entered the site and did our initial scan for spirits. We first went into the basement, and found a woman in her 20s, that was afraid to leave. She told us there was another spirit in the basement that would not let her pass, by blocking the light. She was scared, and did not want us to leave here alone in the basement. I could feel her holding onto my leg, and we had to convince her to let us go. We assured her we would be back.
The Living Room
We then went into the living room, and Crystal told me to sit in this chair in the corner. We could both feel the presence of an old woman, around 70 – 80 years of age. She told Crystal that I looked familiar, but could not figure out who I was. She kept asking if I wanted tea, and also if I wanted biscuits. We believe she was suffering from some sort of dementia at the time of her passing, as she seemed confused. For example, she could not remember her husband.
Upstairs Bedroom
Upon entering the bedroom, Crystal could hear a man talking. He kept asking who we were, and other questions such as “are we from the CIA.” We asked him why he was here, and he told us he was waiting for his wife. He did not believe that he should go through the light, nor did he believe that we were there to help him. He just wanted us to leave, and appeared to be very paranoid and stubborn.
While we were in the master bedroom, we could also feel a presence in the crawlspace adjoining the bedroom. Crystal indicated that it was a little boy, around four years old, that did not speak and was afraid to come out.
The Garage
This was unexpected. We were taking a break and standing on the client’s deck, and Crystal heard a voice coming from the garage. We both entered, and I was overcome with sadness and felt like crying. I could hear “I want to go home” repeatedly. This spirit, a female, asked Crystal if she could come with us out of the garage. We led her out of the garage and that was the last we heard from her.
EVP Sessions
While doing the EVP sessions in each room, we decided to do something a little different. Along with the questioner, the list of base questions was also given to Crystal so she could write down any answers she heard. This worked out extremely well, as we were able to answer many of the client’s questions immediately.

Helping the Spirits Leave
In the basement, we asked the female spirit if she was the one who touched the homeowner, and she replied to Crystal that it was her. We also talked with the male spirit that was blocking the female spirit from leaving. He indicated that he did not want to leave, and was going to do whatever he could to keep the woman from leaving. We had a long talk with him, tried to get him to listen to reason, and let him know how unfair it was to keep her there against her will. We discovered at that point that they hadn’t even talked to each other. We were able to get them to start talking to one another. We left the basement, figuring they had a few things to discuss.
In the bedroom upstairs, we had a difficult time convincing this male spirit that his wife was not coming back, and his best chance of seeing her again was to go through the light. He was having none of it, and was suspicious of our motives. He could not understand why we try to help spirits leave. Ultimately what worked was this: when we were about to give up trying, he realized he would not have anyone to talk to, and it appeared he actually enjoyed having the debate with us. He said he would go through the light just to shut us up, and shortly thereafter he saw his wife in the light. He then left.
We returned to the basement, and I was surprised to have picked up the feeling of absolute joy, and a huge smile came on my face. A few moments later, Crystal indicated that they both had left, and I couldn’t feel the presence of any more spirits in the basement. We gathered that they had talked and decided to leave. In thinking about how I felt when I first returned to the basement, I believe she waited for us to come back down so she could say thank you before leaving.
Talking Board session
We had a talking board session the following afternoon, and were surprised to find that instead of releasing three spirits, we had actually released four. The little boy in the crawlspace who had previously refused to leave, left after the man in the bedroom departed. We believe he was no longer afraid to come out, and was finally able to go.

Evidence:
