A young girl in this house kept hearing voices — so badly it was beginning to scare her, and she just wanted them to be quiet. This is the story of how we helped make the house peaceful.

Reported Occurrences
We were asked to investigate a home in Bristol, CT., built in 2004, where a 14-year-old female occupant reported hearing voices and whispers on a daily basis of a man and a little girl. She also reported an item flying across the room, hood on her jacket being moved, tapping on her shoulder, and feeling like she was being breathed on. She was extremely distressed by these happenings and just wanted them to stop.
Upstairs — Bathroom in Master Bedroom
Before we even arrived at the house, Crystal could hear the name Nathan as we were approaching the house. While doing our initial scan, we entered the bathroom and could feel the presence of several spirits. We started talking to the spirits, and I heard the name Peter. Crystal also heard the name Aimee, and again the name Nathan. After questioning, we discovered that this was a father (Peter) and two of his children. He told Crystal that he was protecting them, and was afraid that we were there to hurt them or otherwise cause them harm, or split them up. We assured them we were not, and explained to them we were there to help them and not split them up. We also told them we would do our best to reunite them with his wife and their mother. We asked if they could see a light, and Crystal was told no. We told them we would be back, and left the bathroom.
Basement
We moved into the basement to check and see if there were any spirits there as well. We did not find any, but as we were leaving I was drawn to a corner of the basement. I did not know why, and Crystal told me that she didn’t detect the presence of any spirits. I couldn’t say I felt any either, so we moved on.
Dining Room
We were scanning the rest of the house, and Crystal felt something in the dining room. I pretty much felt nothing — except for hearing “no.” At the time, I thought it was just my own inner dialog. Crystal insisted there was something there, and we sat down at the dining room table. Once there, this spirit told Crystal that she really didn’t like me, and wanted me to leave. We started to talk to her, and she told Crystal her name was MaryBeth. She said that she couldn’t open the door, and had been trying for some time. We assured her that we weren’t there to hurt her, and would try to help her get through the door.
EVP Sessions
We performed two EVP sessions — one in the bathroom upstairs (which was a little cramped and strange, but sometimes you just don’t have a choice!), and one in the dining room. In the bathroom, as there were spirit children present, we used a set of questions geared more towards kids. The 14-year-old resident, her friend, and her mother were present and participated in this particular session. Darlene did most of the questioning, and below are the answers that Crystal received during the sessions.

Helping the Spirits Leave
In the upstairs bathroom, we convinced Peter that it was safe to leave, and he could see his wife, and his children could see their mother if they went to the light. We asked if he knew where the light was, but he did not know. However, his daughter Aimee knew where it was — in the basement. We managed to get them out of the bathroom, but Peter was too afraid to leave the bedroom. Eventually it was his children that pulled him out of the bedroom, with a little help from us. We then led them to the basement, and Crystal told me that they could see the light — in the corner that I was drawn to earlier. Peter was still afraid to go, but Crystal could see his daughter pulling him toward the light. They finally went through and were gone.
In the case of MaryBeth, she informed Crystal she really wanted to leave, but just couldn’t open the door. I told her that we could get her through the door, but she was going to have to trust us. Like we did back in Trumbull with the leaf, I had her grab hold of a piece of paper, and Crystal confirmed she was holding it. I started walking out of the dining room toward the front door, but we felt her become scared and we had to stop. I asked her if she could see that I was halfway through the door stopping her (which happened to be an entryway without a door to us). I told her that she could pass through it, and we proceeded slowly. We continued outside to the front of the client’s house, and MaryBeth could see the light. Crystal said MaryBeth could see someone in the light waiting for her, who she recognized as a child named Zoe. She then proceeded to go into the light.
Talking Board session
In a followup on the board, we were told that MaryBeth said thank you, and that her dad was waiting for her. We were also told that her dad had been trying to get her to come but she was unable to hear him.
Evidence:
Three days after the investigation, the 14-year-old girl is not hearing the voices any more, and hasn’t since the spirits left. We did few meter checks and no photographs due to the stress level of the client at the time. We have posted the captured EVPs.
